As reported by ‘Vanguard’, Godwin Emefiele, the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, has recently expressed optimism that the apex bank would soon achieve the 85 percent financial inclusion rate target in Nigeria. According to him, the nation’s current rate is slightly below 70 percent. The statement was made by Emefiele at the headquarters in Abuja while hosting the delegation of Executive Directors from the Bank of Uganda, who were on an experience sharing tour of the CBN’s Central Bank Digital Currency, CBDC, project.

Operators in the Nigerian manufacturing sector and financial experts commend the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), led by Governor Godwin Emefiele, for interventions in the sector and asked for improved access to infrastructure and foreign exchange to make the interventions more effective.

“Our interventions, particularly in the manufacturing and the agriculture sectors, significantly helped to encourage continuous improvements in growth in these two key sectors of our economy”, said Emefiele.

Governor of CBN, Godwin Emefiele, stated that agriculture remains a strong pillar and the backbone of Nigeria’s economy. Emefiele said this while addressing journalists during an inspection tour of a palm plantation at Odighi Village in Ovia North East Local Government Area of Edo State. Shortly after the assessment of the farm, Emefiele attested to the giant strides already being recorded in the production of maize and cassava and expressed optimism that in the next 12 months, palm produce harvests would have commenced.
